I joined a knitting class in Boston, some 30 years ago, and was asked to leave the group! Being left
handed, I was doing everything backwards they said. Determined to learn the craft and to knit something for my first nephew
that was unique and a natural fiber, I marched down to the library and got every book they had. Six months later, I sold my
first baby sweater to the very store that asked me to leave, and I haven't stopped since. My poor son, during those early
years, waiting for dinner to be ready and my replies always being "just one more row!" He survived, and in the end
didn't mind the wait when his new sweater was done.
